What’s In My Model Bag
A well-packed model bag is the key to staying prepared and professional on set. Whether you’re heading to a casting, a test shoot, or a major campaign, having the right essentials on hand can make all the difference. From beauty touch-ups to wardrobe fixes, your bag should have everything you need to walk in with confidence and handle any last-minute surprises. After years of trial and error, I’ve perfected my model bag checklist—here’s everything I swear by to stay ready for anything.
Packing the right essentials isn’t just about convenience—it’s about being professional and prepared. Agencies and clients expect models to come ready with basics like nude undergarments, minimal makeup for touch-ups, and the right pair of shoes. But beyond that, there are a few key items that can save the day when unexpected challenges arise. From skincare must-haves to wardrobe fixes, here’s everything I keep in my Beis Mini Weekender model bag to ensure every shoot and casting goes smoothly.
Portfolio & Comp Cards
Even in a digital age, having printed comp cards and a portfolio can make a difference, especially at castings. Some clients prefer to have something physical to review, and being prepared shows that you take your career seriously. I bring my iPad with all of my portfolio photos loaded on it and my respective comp card for the market I am casting in at the time.
Basic Wardrobe Staples
Every model should have a few versatile pieces on hand. Depending on the booking, the stylist may ask you to bring certain basics, but these are my go-to items:
Nude & black seamless underwear – I am linking a few of my favorites here: Skims, Spanx, Commando.
Adhesive thong - I found this product a few years ago and it’s been life changing for e-commerce work: Hollywood Fashion Secrets
Regular bra, strapless nude bra & sticky bra – This is crucial for castings and photoshoots, here are a few of my favorites here: Skims Nude Bra, Panache, Simone Perele, Nood
Nipple covers - ensure smooth, seamless coverage under any outfit, my favorite brand is Nood and they have given me 10% off for my readers with code ERINENDRES.
A fitted black tank or bodysuit – A must-have for castings and digitals. Here are my go-to: Skims Tank Bodysuit, H&M Tank
A pair of well-fitted jeans – A classic, flattering fit for your body shape, no rips, and minimal fading. Here are a few of my favorites: Agolde Light Blue Straight, Agolde Dark Blue Straight
Simple heels & sneakers – Nude or black heels for height and clean white sneakers for casual looks. I suggest buying a pair to keep in your bag to use only for modeling so they stay clean and fresh. Here are my favorites: Schutz Nude Heel, Schutz Black Heel, Dolce Vita White Sneaker
Beauty Must-Haves
Looking polished on set is key, and having a few beauty essentials can be a lifesaver. I like to share my beauty items in this Beis On The Go case that is durable and features a mirror:
A light foundation or concealer – Just in case you need a quick touch-up. Right now I use the Ogee Sculpted Complexion Stick. They were so gracious to give my readers 15% off with code ERINENDRES15
Lip balm & clear gloss – Hydration is everything, especially your lips. My favorites are the Laneige, Summer Fridays, & Rhode.
Oil blotting sheets & setting powder – To stay shine-free under the lights. I really love the Laura Geller Matte Setting Powder and keep this in my purse as well as my modeling bag.
A hairbrush, hair ties & bobby pins – A hairstylist may do your hair, but it’s always good to have your own tools. My go-to hair brush is the Kitsch Detangler Brush, Kitsch Bobby Pins & Hair Ties.
Dry shampoo - Always a must in my opinion, I’ve used more than I’d like to mention : K18 Dry Shampoo.
Deodorant & body wipes – Stay fresh throughout the day.
Razor kit - Venus Mini Razor
A mini toothbrush & mints – You never know when you’ll need them!
Skincare & Wellness Essentials
Long hours and constant travel can take a toll on your skin, so I always keep these in my bag:
Facial mist – A quick refresh between looks. I recommend Fresh Rose Water Mist or Elemis Rose Mist.
Hand cream & cuticle oil – Great for last minute hand photos or just overall dry skin. I use Nécessaire Mini Firming Moisturizer and Mini Luxe Cuticle Oil (I picked this up at the Mini Luxe store rather than ordering online.)
Eye drops – Bright, fresh eyes make a difference.
A healthy snack, water bottle, and a book – Staying fueled and hydrated is a must. A book is always great to give less strain on your eyes instead of looking at a phone or laptop for hours on set.
Emergency Fixes & Extras
The unexpected happens, and being prepared can save the day:
Double-sided tape & safety pins – For last-minute wardrobe fixes.
Pain relievers & bandaids – Heels and long hours can be tough.
Phone charger & portable battery – A dead phone is never ideal when you're on set or traveling.
Packing the perfect model bag is all about being prepared while keeping things streamlined. Over time, you’ll figure out what works best for you, but having these essentials will help you feel confident and ready for anything.
